Trauma Therapy
Are you feeling unsafe or overwhelmed from traumatic memories or experiences?
Many of us have experienced trauma, whether it was a specific event that happened to us or a more nuanced and subtle long-term circumstance that left emotional wounds.
All our experiences of trauma are valid and need our attention and care. Trauma often leaves our nervous system feeling overwhelmed or easily hyperaroused, which is why my approach is to move slowly and gently.
We avoid pushing our nervous system beyond what feels manageable, often called our “window of tolerance.” Healing trauma is a process that takes time and it’s about rebuilding a sense of safety, connection, and resilience.
My Approach to Trauma Therapy
When I work with trauma, my focus is on creating a space where you feel safe, respected, and empowered. Healing is possible and you don’t have to navigate the process alone.
As a trauma-informed therapist, I draw from multiple modalities including:
Somatic awareness
Parts work
Mindfulness and grounding
Evidence-based treatment (CBT, ACT, and DBT)
Together, we bring attention to how trauma lives in the body and learn tools to regulate your nervous system. We might work with parts of you that hold fear, shame, or survival responses, helping them feel understood rather than judged.
We also explore the patterns that trauma has created, whether in relationships, or how our sense of self-worth, and gradually build new ways of responding that feel aligned with who you are now. As you develop more internal safety and stability, we can explore the deeper layers of the trauma story at your own pace, always with choice and never pushing beyond what feels right to you.
My goal is to help you reconnect with your inner strength, restore a sense of agency, and support the parts of you that learned to cope in the best way they could.
