Anxiety Therapy
Do you find yourself struggling with excessive worry and feeling restless, irritable, or on edge?
You are not alone. Having personally experienced challenges with anxiety, I offer a unique perspective to clients on how to work with a variety of symptoms, including:
Feeling fearful, apprehensive, or a sense of dread
Intrusive negative thoughts and catastrophizing
Avoiding places and situations that make us anxious
Difficulty concentrating
Sleep problems
My approach with anxiety is to first normalize anxiety as part of our human experience and not something to get rid off or expect to never again feel. In fact, it would be an unrealistic goal in therapy to never have anxiety.
My Approach to Anxiety Therapy
In therapy we will identify the triggers to your anxiety and begin to understand any patterns as we embark on the process of getting to the root of these symptoms. We learn to approach this process with non-judgmental curiosity, meaning rather than judging ourselves for feeling anxious, we ask questions like what is this anxiety trying to show me?
In my work I use multiple modalities that help with this process, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Psychodynamic exploration of triggers and past traumas
Somatic experiencing
There are also more specific types of anxiety that can vary in severity. In these cases, we will take a more tailored approach that specifically works with the type of anxiety you are experiencing. Some of these include:
Social anxiety
Panic attacks
Specific phobias
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
Adjustment disorder with anxiety
